Um, Scary?

[ Posted by Rebecca Wed, 24 Oct 2007 18:33:49 GMT ]

This is what I saw on my way to class this morning.

A girl in black leggings (since when did someone allow spandex to come back into style?), wearing a gray t-shirt, a black jacket, and a red and green and blue plaid scarf.

Oh, and she also had on red, peep-toe jellies.

Yes. You did read that correctly. Jellies.

What’s funny is that she probably wasn’t even alive the last time I saw jellies, about twenty years ago.

I know I’m only 26, but I still can’t help feeling a little old.

Dear Readers - HELP!

[ Posted by Rebecca Tue, 16 Oct 2007 03:45:01 GMT ]

Ok, so you all know that I’m stressed and that I haven’t been so great at this writing at night thing. You know all about it - you’ve already read TWO of my crappy stories. Or maybe you just walked away, shaking your head, and vowed to never, EVER read my pathetic site again. You’re probably better off.

But for those of you who stuck around, well, I have a favor to ask.

My clever boyfriend is great at creating steam-powered butlers in Second Life, and he’s good at making breeding bunny rabbits and marketing machines there also. I cannot do that. I can play with words and write fun things. He cannot do that so well. Our creative powers, you see, lie in completely different planes.

He’s not really giving me super-fabulous elements to work with, so I’m asking you to.

Here’s the deal. Submit a comment that contains 15 random elements. By elements I mean nouns, phrases, proper names, verbs, adjectives, ideas, emotions, random words, whatever you want to choose. This is your best chance to comment on a blog entry, you lurkers, you.

Then, I will write each one on a little piece of paper and put it in a box and give it to Dominic.

When I screw up and don’t write, which is bound to happen at least once a week, he will randomly draw five pieces of paper from the box and will send them to me. Those five elements will not go back into the box until I’ve used up all the elements.

Then I’ll write a story or something using those elements and post my embarrassing art up here for the entire world to see. This should be fun, because you all get to participate. I’m giving you until Midnight on Thursday, October 18 to submit your elements to me. Really it’s just because I need to write some punishment and I need your help, so hop to it!

Even if this is your first time to read the blog, submit words, oh, and check out the other comments so I don’t get the same thing twice. Thanks readers! Both of you!

Naughty Little Alarm

[ Posted by Rebecca Fri, 28 Sep 2007 13:23:39 GMT ]

After listening to a riveting lecture on Oscar Wilde last night, I came home from campus, finished up my homework, and crashed. I crashed hard.

When my alarm went off this morning, my first thought was that it was being very rude and needed to be taught some manners.

Victorian influence on my thoughts and dreams, coupled with my anger at having to get up before the sun again?

Who knows? But it was amusing, and starting out the day amused isn’t so bad.

Oh Flibberty-jibbitts! I love college and work and life and stuff!

[ Posted by Rebecca Thu, 27 Sep 2007 17:18:42 GMT ]

Wow oh wow! Man oh man! Tulip oh tulip! Ladybug oh ladybug!

I now know what it means to be over-caffeinated!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

But the paper’s coming along great and now I get to eat something and read some homework and then finish my paper and then do some work and then read some more homework and then attend a lecture on Oscar Wilde and then drive home and then crash and then get up tomorrow and face another day.

Meanwhile, my heart is racing and my vision is actually a little blurry. This must be what it is like to be on speed. Except with speed I bet you don’t get the searing heartburn like with lots of tea and coffee.

My initiation into the American Society of Voluntary Bodily Destruction is now complete! I’m a full-fledged member! Yippee skippy!

Oh the things that stress do to you and make you do to yourself. It’s CRAY-ZEEEEEEEE!

Seriously?

[ Posted by Rebecca Wed, 26 Sep 2007 19:19:44 GMT ]

Ok. So. We all know that UT is located in Texas, which is located in the southern part of the U.S.

But what I want to know is, given the fact stated above, why is our office furniture all Canadian? Because that means the locking mechanisms are Canadian, thus the keys are Canadian, thus the key blanks ARE NOT SOLD IN THE US!

So, you know, for the desks which are inhabited by students, desks which turn over inhabitants on a yearly basis, we have keys that we can’t copy. So when they are lost, they are lost for good.

WHY? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY?

Deep breath. I’m ok now.

RingRingRingRingRingRingRingRingBananaPhone!

[ Posted by Rebecca Tue, 25 Sep 2007 16:56:11 GMT ]

Why is it that when you put a banana in your lunch, everything else comes out tasting like bananas?

I just had a banana-flavored piece of sharp cheddar cheese. It wasn’t so good.

I just hope that my salad and my apple don’t end up tasting like bananas.

It’s so weird! And annoying!

A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...

[ Posted by Rebecca Thu, 06 Sep 2007 13:46:49 GMT ]

…Darth Dominic

My Wookiee.

and Rebecca, Princess of Noses

IMG_5276.jpg

went on a trip to Dallas to visit Princess Rebecca’s sister, Kinder the Beautiful

Kinder the Beautiful

and her husband, Han Solo’s Crotch.

Han Solo's Crotch

Just kidding. Her husband’s name is actually Robert and he is magical. So magical in fact, that when someone attempts to take a picture of him, he completely disappears on film. It’s amazing! But since there are no pictures of him known to exist, Han Solo’s Crotch will have to do as a substitute, even if it does belong to a scruffy-looking nerf-herder.

In Dallas, Kinder the Beautiful and Robert the Magical showed their newly acquired and recently refurbished castle to Darth Dominic and Princess Rebecca. Darth Dominic, who is not easily impressed, bore the tour well and even commented a bit on the choice of decor. Princess Rebecca adored the interior, and knew in her heart that Kinder the Beautiful would be the next Lady Bird, setting the standards for interior decorating for the entire Empire of Texas, located in a galaxy far, far away. Princess Rebecca found herself insanely jealous of the castle and the lifestyle of Kinder the Beautiful and Robert the Magical, and knowing that jealousy leads to the Dark Side of the force and thus to suffering, kept her comments simple so as to keep herself from suffering, and from force-choking everyone around her.

After the tour, there was a brief luncheon, followed by a trip to Ft. Worth to see the Star Wars Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Technology. Robert the Magical opted out of the excursion, because he had to do some magical cleaning and magical work on his magical castle.

The force was not with Darth Dominic, Princess Rebecca of Noses, nor Kinder the Beautiful when they arrived at the museum. There was a long line, which involved a long wait.

The Line to Get In

To pass the time, the trio took pictures of pickled sea creatures, like this one.

Finally, they made it into the vestibule which led to the exhibit, only to find that the exhibit itself was bleeding out into the vestibule.

Impersonators

When they finally got into the exhibit, they turned the corner and saw this

Landspeeder

followed by a bunch of other stuff like all of these:

Jawa

Model AT-ST

Artoo

Yoda Puppet

Kinder got her picture taken with her favorite Giant Walking Carpet

Kinder with Chewie

while Princess Rebecca got her picture made with her favorite Kinder.

IMG_1873.JPG

Darth Dominic just got to take lots of cool pictures like this one.

Pod Racer Model from "The Phantom Menace."

The trio had a great time, and after a long day of taking it all in, headed back to the magical castle, picked up Robert the Magical, and headed to dinner at El Phoenix for some tasty Mexican Food.

Let me just take this brief moment to be a complete hypocrite and say that all the people on my sidebar need to blog more. So I can have something fun to read.

Because I can’t wait for NaBloPoMo, so get to it!
