My lunch plans today consisted of a walk to the bank to deposit a check into my account and then a nice quiet lunch at the empty Texas Union with no one but Jane Austen to keep me company.
Of course, when I went to get ready to leave my office, I couldn’t locate my debit card. I had used it on breakfast this morning because I was running late and didn’t have time to make something before dashing out the door. So I thought I might have accidentally left the card on the passenger seat in the car. I was concerned about not having money for lunch. I get really grumpy and icky feeling when I’m hungry for too long.
As I was walking to my car to check for it, Marci called to say that she’d love to walk with me to the bank, just to get out into the lovely weather. When I couldn’t locate my card in the car I told her my whole story and she said, “Don’t worry about it, I can loan you some cash.”
Yay. I was going to get to eat lunch after all. :)
As I was walking back to the ATM to meet her, not only did I find the card in my purse, where it is supposed to be, but I was struck by how dumb I had just been.
There I was, worried about not being able to get money for lunch, and where was my first stop going to be? The bank? To deposit a check?
It’s called less cash, Goober.
Can I go on vacation now?
