I gave up on NaBloPoMo. I’ve been a little discontent with aspects of it from the beginning this year, but I finally gave up when I realized that I really don’t enjoy filling the pages of my blog with mind-numbingly boring blather.
So I purposely chose to not post on Saturday and Sunday. So there. The prizes don’t mean anything to me, and the challenge doesn’t mean anything to me anymore.
In other news, it seems as though all of Austin is having difficulty waking up from the collective holiday stupor. I left late this morning, and was afraid I wouldn’t find parking and would have to shell out $9 for a space in the garage, especially since everyone was driving discourteously under the speed limit. I think they must’ve all still been asleep - exhausted from a combination of overeating and being on their feet shopping too much. It was a good thing that the entire city suffered from this. I got to work later than usual but still found parking with ten minutes to spare before work.
Today I’m trying to get back into the groove of things. I have two weeks left before the semester ends, and then my personal time will be my own again and work will slow down to a near standstill. I’ll likely spend several days reading (for pleasure…finally!) at my desk and a lot of evenings lazing around catching up on movies, reading, and time with friends. I’m looking forward to it.
What about the holiday season are you looking forward to?

See that nifty little lolcat button over there on the left? The new one? That is really silly?
That’s actually a nifty button that will take you to the NaBloPoMo Web Site. Notice how I didn’t make a link out of the word ‘NaBloPoMo’ just now? That’s because I really want you to click the button.
Really. I want you to click the button. Really. Badly.
NaBloPoMo - National Blog Posting Month - begins tomorrow. The rules, basically, are that participants must post something every single day for the month of November. At the end of the month, successful blogs will be eligible for prizes.
I managed to pull it off last year, although I didn’t win anything. This year, I’m gonna try again. We’ll see how I do. Hopefully I won’t have to resort to describing all the items that are sitting on my desk. I really hope I don’t. It would be tragic to have to resort to that a second time.
While you’re at it, check out my official NaBloPoMo page. I’ve already got friends up there, and it hasn’t even started yet. Cool, huh?
Blogger Becks luvs teh intarweb!
Oh man oh man! Since I wrote the above, I just added three of my new NaBloPoMo friends’ blogs to my Google Reader account, AND I found out that there’s a new Randomizer for this year’s contest, which means, once it’s fully operational, I’ll be coming across tons of new blogs that I love, and they’ll all go in to Google Reader as well.
I foresee a month of getting very little done in my life, apart from reading about other peoples’ lives and writing about my own. What great fun it shall be!

Ha. That’s right, folks. November is coming up and NaBloPoMo 2007 is about to begin.
This year, Ning will host the official NaBloPoMo site, and all participants are invited to have a page up on the site.
I have a page there, and from time to time will try to post something that I think the world may find at least vaguely interesting.
We’ll see how it goes.
NaBloPoMo doesn’t officially start until November, but some people are already building up to it, so I figured I may as well do the same.
Have a good read!
