We went dress shopping today, and I really thought that I wasn’t going to find anything else that I liked because one of the dresses at David’s Bridal looked good on me and I’m not much of a shopper so I was thinking of going with that one.
Then today, we went to Belle Saison. I pulled four dresses off the racks, and they were the only ones I was interested in.
Now, when shopping for dresses, you often come across dresses you like or even dresses you love, and you may even buy these. But every now and then, you put on a dress and the dress serenades you with heartfelt love songs on the violin, under your window on starlit nights.
This happened to me today. I was in the dressing room and I put the dress on, and of course it was too big so Marci clipped it on the back so it would fit. I blinked once when I saw myself in the mirror and was so overcome with excitement that I started yelling “I’m in love! I’m in love!”
I bolted out the door to show Caroline and when she saw it on me she broke out into a huge smile. It seemed like every one knew it was the perfect dress for me. I think at one point I even heard Caroline say “Rebecca owns that dress!”
Sheesh, and I’m not even the one who’s getting married!
Anyway, I ordered it and it was under my budget for the dress which was fantastic. I’m super excited!
The dress will be solid navy, and will be this style.
It’s the moments like this that make me incredibly thankful that God made me a girl.

It has been a busy day.
Today I went shopping with all the bridesmaids for Caroline’s wedding. This time we were shopping for us - bridesmaids gowns have to be ordered really far in advance, so even though the wedding is in May, we need to have ours ordered by the end of the month if we want to get them in time to do alterations and find accessories.
I think I tried on at least 25 dresses today, but by the end of the day it felt like 50. Caroline stipulated color and length, but other than that we each get to choose the style we like.
So far, I like this one, this one, and something really close to this one. All of them will be in marine or navy and we are putting a sash like this one with the dresses, in champagne for the maids and in dahlia for the maid of honor.
We went to three different stores. When I got home, I had a two hour nap, which was glorious.
Tonight, Dominic, Heather and I went to dinner at the Mongolian Grille and then located eleven geocaches in the dark. It was fun.
I’m tired now. There’s church tomorrow morning, followed by more dress shopping. Then back to work on Monday.
I think I’ll go to bed now. Good night.

This weekend was the first of many where I felt genuinely relaxed. I think it’s partly because I’ve straight up decided to not care about so many things to such a great degree.
Friday I turned in my paper - I’ve only got one week of class left and one paper left to turn in this semester, and by am I ever glad.
So with the diminishing stress came the desire to get out of the house and clear some of the cobwebs from my brain.
Friday night Dominic and I went out with some friends to Fado, which is quickly becoming my favorite pub because of the laid back atmosphere, the good food, and the awesome heaters they have outside on the porch. Friday night there was a U2 cover band playing, and they even dressed like U2…it was quite fun.
After a double Jameson 12 year Old neat ( I didn’t like the black and tan I previously ordered) I was tired and ready for bed… I’m not used to hitting bars until 1:00 AM.
Saturday morning I had a hair appointment, and after I finished with that, I did little shopping, and a lot of napping due to a sinus headache.
Saturday evening I went to Heather’s ugly Christmas sweater + Texas snowball fight party - it was a great party, but it tuckered me out.
Today I was off to church, then lunch, and then the dreaded trip to the mall to shop for jeans. Becky went with me for emotional support and it was greatly appreciated.
Now I’m going to put up all my clean laundry that somehow managed to get done in the midst of my naps yesterday, and after that, I’m hitting the paper that’s due on Friday. I’d like to have it done early so I can do something fun this Thursday. We’ll see if that happens.
Anyway, I’m relaxed - more relaxed than I’ve been in a long time. I wonder what it would be like to feel this way all the time….
